On this date,
September 14, 1901, the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley
died from gangrene caused by the bullet wounds. He was shot and fatally wounded on September 6, 1901, inside the Temple of Music on the grounds of the
Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. McKinley was shaking hands with
the public when he was shot by Leon Czolgosz, an anarchist.
In loving
memory of this Devout Christian Leader, I will post the Lord’s Prayer as it was
one the prayers he murmured when he was wounded.
Matthew
6 verse 9 to 13 (1662 Book of Common Prayer):
Our Father,
which art in heaven,
hallowed be
thy name;
thy kingdom
come;
thy will be
done,
in earth as
it is in heaven.
Give us
this day our daily bread.
And forgive
us our trespasses,
as we
forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us
not into temptation;
but deliver
us from evil.
[For thine
is the kingdom,
the power,
and the glory,
for ever
and ever.]
Amen.
